High Tech vs. High Touch

I am a HUGE fan of the Internet and websites and I know that 70 some odd percent of all home buyers and sellers start out looking on the Internet for information that will help them to make the decisions they need to make.  However I am also a HUGE of High Touch.  By this I mean that we are in a "People Business."  We can not ever lose the ability to meet face to face, shake hands and kiss babies!

The trick is combining High Tech with High Touch.  Website should be straight forward enough so that when a savvy customer or client enters your site, they can quickly and effortlessly find the information they are looking for.  On top of this, there needs to be great information about you, the REAL YOU!  Remember, people buy from those they LIKE.

Stories about you and even your family, photos from your last great adventure, photos of you having the time of your life are all things that should be on your "About Me" page.

A Clean Website is as important as a Clean Shirt at a listing presentation.  Think about it.

Balancing Technology With Old Fashioned Customer Service is one of my primary goals in my business.    I agree, the "About Me" page needs to humanize you as a real person but also as a competent professional.

Interesting - I like the idea of the "get to know me part of the website" - I always had the impression people "looked for houses and tolerated realtors"!

Absolutely!  However I would suggest that the vast majority of the "professional you" be put on the Experience page.

Garreth, I think you correct about looking for houses and tolerating Realtors.  Wouldn't you rather look for a house WITH someone you trusted and could have fun with?  In my market, I can show anyone fifteen ways to find properties.  BUT there is only ONE me and ONE you!  The main thing is not to hide behind your computer and website.  Make appointments, shake hands and kiss babies!

That sounds like good advice Michael. I was thinking of putting pictures of me & the kids in our Giants jerseys up on the site.

It is wise to combine the two Michael. I prefer the High Touch approach. I'm old school!

Eugene- You and the kids in Giants Jerseys is HUGE!  Put that on the back of your business cards!

and For Wayne-  I am old school too.  We old guys just have to know what we are up against when it comes to marketing!
